Chamaerops humilis (European Fan Palm) 200mm
One of the most cold-hardy of all ornamental palms, this will
withstand frost and snow but tolerate heat as well. It often has a
multi-trunked habit, and is a useful screening plant, having a wide
spread of foliage
Generally grown as an outdoor specimen in warmer climates, where
they require humidity, adequate moisture and a well-drained position.
Used widely for landscaping around pools, buildings, parks and
gardens, patio feature plant.
May also be grown indoors in cooler climates, providing it is kept
moist in summer, drier in winter. Keep leaves free from dust. Feed
with a slow-release fertiliser as required.
Adequate warmth, filtered light and humidity also required. Ideal
tub or patio plant. If the outer leaves begin to brown the plant is
simply adjusting to the conditions, or they may have reached their
life expectancy. Be careful not
to over water, as this can also
cause browning on the tips. In
some cases, palms do prefer
to be slightly potbound, so if
re-potting is required, don't over
