its heavenly blooms and handsome glossy green
foliage. Masses of exquisitely perfumed blooms
are produced over a long season from spring
through to autumn. Can make an ideal garden
shrub or potted specimen but requires a warm
protected position, especially in cooler climates.
HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR GARDENIAS: Gardenias will thrive in a
warm, moist but well-drained position, provided there is an adequate
shelter from heat, wind and frost. Ideally, they are suited to morning
sun followed by dappled afternoon light. Gardenias are acid-loving
plants preferring a rich and fertile well-drained soil. Feed throughout
the growing season and mulch well. Do not let potted specimens dry
out. Gardenias respond well to light pruning. This can be done after
flowering and will encourage luxurious, bushy growth. Yellowing of
the foliage can usually be corrected with applications of epsom salts
or chelated iron.
